“We ask the US Forest Service to write a new FEIS based on the BLM recommendations and extensive agency and citizen comments,  we call on Congress to enact the Save Oak Flat Act, and we demand that Resolution Copper recognize the fatal flaws in their failed proposal and save us all time, money, and trauma and simply abandon the project,” concludes Arizona Mining Reform Coalition Director, Roger Featherstone.

Until the US Forest Service completes and releases a new Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS), the land transfer cannot happen,” said Roger Featherstone, Arizona Mining Reform Coalition Director. “It is unfortunate that the 9th Circuit court ruled as it did and we feel that the Apache Stronghold has a strong chance to prevail should the Supreme Court hear their case.”

HUGE NEWS! US Forest Service Rescinds Resolution Copper Final Impact Statement

The US Forest Service just announced they are rescinding the Resolution Copper Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) and the Draft Record of Decision on the project!
This halts the land exchange until a new FEIS is published.

This is wonderful news and although there is still much to do to protect Oak Flat and the surrounding precious lands, we should take time out to thank and remember everyone that has worked so hard to protect Oak Flat and prepare for the final effort to make sure Oak Flat remains free forever!
