Urgent: Submit Your Comment to Stop Copper Creek Drilling!

The deadline for public comments is April 14.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is considering approving a destructive mining exploration project in Copper Creek, near Mammoth, Arizona between the San Pedro River and Aravaipa Canyon without fully analyzing its environmental and cultural impacts. This project threatens endangered species, critical water sources, and Tribal cultural sites.

Right now, BLM is accepting public comments, and we need your voice to demand a full Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) before the project is approved. Here’s why your comment matters:

  • The project lacks required consultation under the Endangered Species Act and will harm species like the yellow-billed cuckoo, and Mexican spotted owl.
  • Groundwater withdrawals threaten Copper Creek’s fragile riparian habitat.
  • BLM has failed to consult with the San Carlos Apache Tribe, violating federal law.
  • 24/7 drilling will create noise and light pollution, harming nocturnal wildlife and migratory birds.
